Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Lead the department faculty in its development of policies on such matters as academic requirements, courses of study, class schedules, graduate and research programs, and service functions.
  2. Chairing all department meetings, except as the chair may delegate this function, and is an ex officio member of all department committees.Has administrative responsibility for implementing the department’s policies and programs
  3. Responsible for recommendations on the appointment of new faculty members of the department, promotions, reappointments, terminal appointments, post-retirement appointments, the granting of tenure, and decisions not to reappoint.
  4. Responsible for the periodic evaluation of department members by procedures and criteria established by the University, the college, and the department faculty;
